GD install no idea how

When uploading files i get this error

Warning: imagecopyresampled(): supplied argument is not a valid Image resource in /home/gamerate/public_html/crazyshare.co.uk/classes/Thumbnail.php on line 33

Is this something to do with GD if so how do i install it and where do i get it?

What type of images? And how large are they?

If you have some samples please attach them.
